Barrili Museum
Museum
Rooms
The Barrili Museum is located on the first floor of Villa Maura and has four rooms, each of which holds personal objects and private collections of the writer, such as books in rare and special editions, Cinquecentine books, foreign language books, authentic printing, leaflets, musical scores and manuscripts with the lessons that Barrili held at the University of Genoa.
However, the modern layout of the rooms does not correspond to the original one: the ground floor, where the Municipal Library has been located since 1981, housed kitchens and servants’ rooms, while the first floor housed the apartment of the Barrili’s family, occupying mainly the front rooms, today used for art exhibitions.
Villa Maura, since its construction, has represented and continues to represent a living cultural centre, a place of literary and artistic exchange, a place in the heart of our village.
